Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker as a consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker writer, author and television personality. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran was one of the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February of 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in a Catholic Irish working class family. At times, the family depended on free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who would drink occasionally and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic primary school. Corcoran was a failure in numerous classes in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
